We did our first offshore and our first overnight sail in Blue Savannah, sailing from the northwest corner of Washington south through the Columbia River Bar. The Columbia River Bar is known as the "Graveyard of the Pacific" due to the large number of boat wrecks that have occurred there. To safely navigate the bar, it is imperative to select your weather window and timing to get through it when the wind and the water are going in the same direction to avoid dangerous waves.
